Breathing Fire

The blazing throat of the fire eater
glows within, the color of combustion.

She is a cask fermenting nuclear run-off.
When cracked open, she exhales flowers of smoke.

She is wearing her mouth painted in flames
by the blood consumed from phoenix eggs.

The yolks inside burn like twenty-four-hour
suns. She hungers for more than her share.
